The Association brings together people for a common cause, promoting collective actions that serve their interests or objectives and preferably have a positive impact on society.
The Association of Tour Guides of Rio de Janeiro was founded on May 10, 2021. Its founders were part of a group of tour guides who worked at the Port of Rio de Janeiro. Due to the pandemic, many businesses in the sector suffered from a lack of work.
As a result, it became necessary for tour guides to come together to create projects, engage in dialogue, and seek solutions with public agencies and private institutions.
In just two years, we have achieved significant milestones. We established a partnership with FIOCRUZ, where we organized an unprecedented Biosafety course for Tour Guides in Brazil, offered free of charge over two editions. We received Motions and Applause from the Office of César Maia in recognition of our Associated Guides. Additionally, we secured a seat on the city’s COMTUR (Tourism Council).
During the celebration of ABAV’s 50th anniversary at Riocentro, we participated with a booth at the fair, invited by ABAV RJ. This partnership provided transportation support for guides during the event, making us the first Tour Guide association to take part in a travel agent fair.
We also have associated guides who have been selected and actively contribute to government projects at both state and municipal levels.
